A three-man gang suspected by gardai of being associated with the INLA, went to a Dublin house armed with a lump hammer to evict a number of tenants, the Special Criminal Court heard yesterday. The man who owned the house wanted some of his tenants evicted after a woman tenant resisted his approaches.

The men pleaded guilty to having a hammer to unlawfully intimidate another person at Oaktree Drive, Castleknock, Dublin, on August 1st, 1996.

Gary Adams (36) from Co Antrim, with an address at Crescent One, Muirhevnamore, Dundalk, Co Louth, and Thomas Murray (25), Marian Park, Dundalk, were jailed for a year. Damien Bond (31), Dol largey Avenue, Muirhevna more, Dundalk, received six months suspended on condition he keep the peace for five years. The State did not proceed with INLA membership charges.
