Two Belfast men, one of them a leading loyalist pastor, have been in court on an explosives charge. Pastor Clifford Norman Peoples (30), described as a restaurant owner, of Woodvale Road, and Mr James McGookin Fisher (34), of Deerpark Road, were remanded in custody when they appeared at Cookstown Magistrate's court yesterday.
Both are accused of having two grenades and an improvised pipe-bomb with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property at Dungannon on Tuesday. An RUC constable told the court that when charged on Thursday both men replied: "Not guilty." Their next court appearance will be at Lisburn Magistrate's court sitting at the Maze on November 17th.
