The Mid Western Health Board yesterday announced that final touches had been put to emergency plans for the health services in the region, which employ over 1,600 nurses, of whom 800 work in the five acute hospitals. A total of 21 strike committees had been established by the nursing unions covering 16 hospitals.
Helpline numbers have been set up at the Regional Hospital, Maternity Hospital and Orthopaedic Hospital, Croom, as well as for community and mental health.
