AS Roma retained their six-point lead in Serie A after AC Milan suffered their first league defeat of the season, beaten 2-1 at home by Udinese.

A late David Trezeguet goal gave 10-man Juventus a 1-1 draw with Lecce and lifted the Italian champions level with Milan in second place. Roma won 2-0 at Empoli yesterday.

They have 36 points with Juve and Milan on 30, two clear of Inter Milan who play at Lazio later on Sunday.

Udinese sealed their win at the San Siro thanks to goals by Dino Fava after two minutes and Nestor Sensini (51). Milan pulled one back through Cafu but also had Kakha Kaladze sent off and missed a penalty.

Juventus dominated at Lecce but lacked their usual ruthlessness in front of goal and fell behind to a goal by striker Cedric Konan.

Juve had Mark Iuliano sent off on the hour but Trezeguet levelled with four minutes remaining.

Elsewhere Perugia are still in search of their first win of the season after drawing 2-2 with Brescia. Ancona remain stuck at the bottom after losing 1-0 to Chievo Verona.
