Five people were killed today when a military helicopter crashed into a garden in Hamburg, authorities said.
A fire brigade spokesman said the dead included four servicemen and a civilian doctor.
The fire brigade said the search-and-rescue helicopter, one of about 300 used by the German military, was on the way to helping in dealing with a traffic accident and apparently crashed as it was preparing to land.
A fire service spokesman said the cause of the crash was as yet unknown.
