The pitch at the Millennium Stadium is to be completely re-laid ahead of the FA Cup final on May 12.

The pitch at the Millennium Stadium is to be completely re-laid ahead of the FA Cup final on May 12.

Work is expected to begin on Saturday, with the whole process set to take three or four days.

The announcement comes after Football Association officials visited Cardiff today to express concerns at the state of the turf, which has not been protected because of problems with the retractable roof at the ground.

The FA are confident that the pitch will be fully bonded by the time Arsenal take on Liverpool, in the first of what will be at least four finals at the venue.
