It has been reported that a British man feared kidnapped in Iraq has been released. A spokesperson for the British Foreign Office said he was 'safe and well'.

Fears had grown for the safety of married father-of-five Gary Teeley since he disappeared in Nasiriyah last Monday.

The laundry firm consultant, originally from Woolwich, south-east London, was believed to be working for a Qatari firm in the southern Iraqi city.

The Briths Foreign Office were unable to confirm reports that Mr Teeley , who was 37 on Thursday, was kidnapped as he and a group of colleagues drove from the US air base where they worked.
