Blois, France - A man deaf to his surroundings because he was busy talking on a mobile phone was hit by a passing train and seriously hurt, the French state railway company said yesterday.
After stepping off a train in the central French town of Blois, the man immediately made a call, failing to hear the station-master's warning of the arrival of a freight train or a ticket inspector shouting at him that he was too close to the tracks. The man's leg had to be amputated in hospital after the accident.
