Well-known model and socialite Katy French was described as "seriously ill" last night after reportedly collapsing at a house party over the weekend.
A spokeswoman for Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, Co Meath, declined to say whether Ms French was in intensive care, and could not reveal what the cause of her illness was.
"She is still seriously ill," she said. "I'm not at liberty to share any other information."
Friends and colleagues of Ms French were also remaining tightlipped as to the cause of her sickness yesterday.
Attempts to contact her modelling agency for comment were unsuccessful, while others contacted by this newspaper expressed their shock before adding that they were also awaiting news on their friend's condition.
It is understood that Ms French was taken by ambulance from a house in Ashbourne, Co Meath after she fell ill over the weekend.
Ms French had recently celebrated her 24th birthday.
Well-known for her outspoken views on issues such as abortion and cocaine use, she also came to prominence after taking part in RTÉ's recent Celebrities Go Wildprogramme.
