Pointe-A-Pitre, Guadeloupe - Montserrat's Soufriere volcano has rumbled into action in the latest of a series of eruptions that threaten to force residents from the island. Soufriere has been erupting almost daily since August 3rd. The volcano came to life on June 25th after a two-year silence, killing nine people with its showers of red-hot rock and lava. An eruption on August 5th virtually razed the capital of the British colony, Plymouth.
