An increasing number of children and teenagers are using rape crisis centre services, according to the co-ordinating body for the centres.
Fiona Neary, director of the Rape Crisis Network of Ireland, met the Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald, yesterday to discuss the issue.
“It may be the case that rape crisis centres provide specialist services to more child survivors of sexual violence than any other non-governmental agency,” Ms Neary said, adding 72 children used rape crisis centre services in 2009.
