Met Eireann is forecasting the hottest weekend of the year so far, with temperatures today expected to equal, if not surpass, those reached yesterday.
As temperatures reached 27 Celsius in Co Monaghan, yesterday was recorded as the hottest of the year so far.
Although parts of the extreme south, east and west missed out - Cork Airport registered just 18 C due to low-lying fog and mist, some parts of the country saw the highest temperatures in three years.
