Rabat - An overcrowded bus overturned on a road in southern Morocco, killing 31 people and injuring 24, the official MAP news agency reported yesterday. The accident occurred on Monday near the town of Tahanaoute, 30 km south of the tourist city of Marrakesh.
Details of the crash, one of the worst in recent years, were not immediately available. The agency said two passengers, including a two-year-old child, died on Tuesday in hospital. Some press reports said the bus was carrying about 80 passengers and fell into a ravine after turning over.
