Personal details of an RUC officer were found in the wallet of a motorist stopped on suspicion of drink-driving, the Special Criminal Court heard today.

It was alleged that Mr Gerald Anthony McFadden (31) of Rathlin Gardens, Creggan, Derry had information relating to RUC Superintendent Peter Sheridan, his family and his movements.

He was accused of the unlawful possession of information likely to be of use in committing a terrorist offence.

The Special Criminal Court was told Mr McFadden was arrested by gardaí at Glebe, Co Donegal, on the evening of Easter Sunday on suspicion of a drink-driving offence.

Mr Sheridan's details were found in a search of McFadden's wallet which was conducted at Donegal police station.

After a brief court appearance today, Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donovan detained McFadden in custody to appear before the court again on June 25.
