The Prison Service is investigating an incident in Mountjoy Prison in which a man was stabbed repeatedly.
The victim is understood to have been stabbed by a fellow prisoner up to ten times in the head with a nail scissors, sustaining minor injuries. He was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment.
Two prison officers were also slightly injured in the incident.
The assailant has been transferred to Cork Prison pending the outcome of an investigation.
