Defence counsel in the trial of a Co Galway man accused of the rape and murder of a schoolgirl in 1998 has asked that the Assistant State Pathologist be recalled for further cross-examination. A 27-year-old Co Galway man has pleaded not guilty to murder and two counts of rape of the 17-year-old girl in the county on December 6th, 1998. The man cannot be identified.

Yesterday in the Central Criminal Court Mr Justice Smith told the jury that the prosecution would be calling just two more witnesses at the end of its evidence today.
