London - A Labour MP resigned yesterday from a House of Commons committee after admitting he leaked one of its reports to the British government. Mr Ernie Ross sent a draft copy of a report on the arms-to-Africa affair by the Foreign Affairs Select Committee to the Foreign Secretary, Mr Robin Cook.
Mr Ross admitted he had been wrong to breach the committee's confidence and apologised to his colleagues. Later, Mr Cook disclosed in a Commons reply that, besides receiving the report in January, "we were also made aware of certain key conclusions of the report" before its publication on February 9th.
