London - Buckingham Palace should be destroyed as part of the Millennium celebrations to remove Britain's ugliest buildings which "blight the landscape", an MP urged yesterday. Mr Barry Sheerman is launching a Millennium Destruction Challenge, inviting people to name their least favourite buildings which they would like to see torn down and replaced with something "more in keeping with the 21st century".
The Labour Member for Huddersfield said the removal of Buckingham Palace would present the royal family with no problems as to where to live.
