The Former AIB Chief Executive Mr Tom Mulcahy this afternoon resigned as a non-executive director of the building materials' group, Kingspan.
Mr Mulcahy, who became AIB group chief executive in 1994, was one of five executives identified by AIB as having "had tax issues" in a statement from AIB describing offshore tax dealing and other irregularities last Thursday.
Mr Mulcahy retired from AIB in 2000 and was appointed chairman of Aer Lingus a year later.
He tendered his resignation from that position to the Minister for Transport on Saturday.
