Munster 26 Bourgoin 3
Munster deservedly secured the fourth try required to guarantee a home tie in the European Cup quarter-final against Bourgoin, albeit courtesy of the referee.
Nigel Williams's decision to point to the posts after 75 minutes after Bourgoin took down the Munster scum on the line, was greeted by a rapturous roar from the Thomond Park crowd and meant the homeside edged Gloucester out of the top spot of Pool Five.
Immaculate kicking from Ronan O'Gara kept Bourgoin on the defensive and laid the foundations for first half tries from Mike Mullins and Paul O'Connell.
Peter Stringer added a third just after the hour, as nerves were noticeably starting to kick in, for both the team and the fans.
Those butterflies were settled however when the referee gave what O'Gara described as a 'hometown decision'. There were few present complaining however.
