In a brief appearance at Cloverhill District Court, Jonathan Byrne (18), Lohunda Downs, Clonsilla, Dublin, was remanded again to Cloverhill Prison to appear in court on September 24th.

Mr Byrne, who was dressed in a grey top and blue jeans, did not speak during the short hearing before Judge John Lindsay.

Mr Byrne had appeared before Dublin District Court on Monday morning charged with Michaela’s murder at Porterstown Road on Saturday last.

Det Sgt Daniel Callaghan gave details to the court on Monday of Mr Byrne’s arrest and charge.

Mr Byrne was arrested at Blanchardstown Garda station at 11.30pm on Sunday night and charged shortly afterwards.

He made no reply when he was charged and he was granted free legal aid.

The body of the Dublin schoolgirl was found on the bank of the Royal Canal close to her home in Porterstown on Saturday by a man out walking his dog. She was buried on Thursday.
