THE trial of a Dublin man accused of murdering his wife who died after sustaining seven stab wounds was stopped in the Central Criminal Court yesterday because the accused man was unwell.
Mr Michael Halligan (38), formerly of Buttercup Park, Darndale, Dublin, has denied the murder of his wife Martina (33) at that address on May 5th last year.
The trial opened last Thursday and was due to resume at 11 a.m. yesterday. However, after legal discussion, Mr Justice Morris told the jury that it was not possible to proceed with the hearing of the case yesterday because the accused man was "unfortunately unwell".
The judge said it would be quite improper to proceed while he was in that condition and given the circumstances.
