Gardai are still searching for the killer of the two elderly psychiatric patients who were stabbed to death at their home at Grangegorman in Dublin 10 days ago.
Ms Mary Callinan (61) and Ms Sylvia Shields (57) both suffered multiple stab and slice wounds and both were mutilated after they died, pathology tests revealed.
No motive for the murder has yet been established Nothing was stolen from their house, which they shared with a third woman who was unhurt, and neither was sexually assaulted although one suffered severe genital mutilation with one of five knives used by the murderer.
