The man convicted of killing Co Tyrone woman Attracta Harron may never be freed from custody.
Mr Justice McLaughlin described 23 year-old Trevor William Hamilton as "a rapist who has killed and is a walking danger to women."
Justice McLaughlin told Dungannon Crown Court that "either he goes to prison for good or he goes to prison for a very long time to reflect all of these matters".
Hamilton had denied killing Mrs Harron.
The judge has adjourned sentencing Hamilton from Sion Mills from next week until August pending further medical reports.
Before adjourning the court, Mr Justice McLaughlin said he did not need experts to tell him that Hamilton, who buried Mrs Harron's naked body in a makeshift grave in a riverbank at his Concess Road home in Sion Mills, would kill again if released today.
"If released today there is a grave danger he would rape and possibly kill again, if not both," he said. Mr Justice McLaughlin described Hamilton as "a potentially, if not an actual predatory sexual psychopath."
Despite his reservations regarding the usefulness of a further report on Hamilton, Mr Justice McLaughlin said the report may bring up "one or two issues" and therefore it should be carried out.
In the circumstances he adjourned the tariff hearing on Hamilton until the end of July, with sentencing being delivered days later, in early August.
