Alleged former IRA chief Thomas "Slab" Murphy will go on trial at the special Criminal Court in Dublin next year on tax evasion charges.
In the Dundalk Circuit Court this morning a solicitor for the DPP requested that the 58-year-old, from Ballybinaby, Hackballscross, on the Louth/Armagh border, be tried at the Special Criminal Court as he felt the ordinary courts were inadequate for Mr Murphy's trial.
Mr Murphy faces nine separate charges of failing to file tax returns from 1996 to 2004.
Mr Justice Flann Brennan adjourned the case until January 10th next.
