Eyewitness claims that a mystery object came down in the Co Fermanagh countryside on Tuesday evening are still being investigated. A full-scale alert was initially launched when a member of the public said they saw a light aircraft leave a trail of smoke in the sky before it came down near Kinawley at around 6 p.m.
Searches resumed yesterday but an aerial examination of the area yielded nothing. An RUC spokeswoman said they were ruling nothing out. Meanwhile, British army bomb disposal experts were yesterday called to deal with a suspect device found in a remote area of Co Fermanagh. The object was found close to Tempo. An RUC spokesman said the find had no link to the search in Kinawley.
