Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved has been named as the World Player of the Year in a poll by readers of the magazine World Soccer.
The 31-year-old polled more than a third of the votes in the magazine's annual poll after a series of outstanding performances for his club Juventus.
Nedved topped the player poll ahead of Ruud Van Nistelrooy of Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Raul.
Arsenal's Thierry Henry, favourite to win FIFA's World Player of the Year award next week, finished fifth.
