Actor Liam Neeson is the person Irish-Americans regard as most representative of modern Ireland, a survey to coincide with St Patrick’s Day has found.
The monthly Amárach Research/Irishcentral.com survey of Irish-American attitudes found they most identified with Neeson and fellow actors Maureen O’Hara, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Day Lewis. U2 singer Bono also featured on the list.
Nine Irish-Americans out of 10 celebrate St Patrick’s Day. A total of 39 per cent will do so in time-honoured fashion by going to the pub and 43 per cent will attend a parade in their local town.
The online survey was carried out among 1,500 users of the Irishcentral.com website.
