Dublin's new, high-tech dental facility will be opened by the Taoiseach this evening. The new Dublin Dental Hospital, costing £13 million, joins the old Dental Hospital in Lincoln Place and is home to the Trinity College School of Dental Science.
The old dental hospital was built some 100 years ago, according to Mr Brian Murray, administrator of the new hospital. "It was in need of renovation since the 1950s, and funds were allocated by the then Minister for Finance, Bertie Ahern, in 1994."
Work began on the building in 1995. The architect behind the new building is Mr Paul Koralek, who also designed the Berkeley Library in Trinity College, a design which won international architectural awards.
"We are confident that this will be an award-winning building too," said Mr Murray.
