The Garda in Kerry has renewed its appeal for anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of two missing Kerry teenage girls to make contact with them as soon as possible.

The girls, Serena Horgan and Bryga Lewis, both aged 15, went missing just over a week ago. It is believed that they planned a trip to Scotland, taking a train to Dublin and on to Belfast before connecting with a ferry between Larne and Cairnryan.

It is understood that a friend of Bryga told the families that when she recently returned from a visit to Aberdeen, the girls had expressed a keen interest in the trip.

It has also been revealed that Mrs Margaret Horgan received a number of calls to her mobile phone last Saturday night. The caller did not speak at any stage, but the families were hoping that the calls were from Serena and Bryga, who may have wanted to let their families know they were well, but without answering any questions.

However gardai say the families are still concerned for the girls' safety, especially if they run short of money. They have appealed for anyone with any information on the girls' whereabouts to get in contact with the Garda at Killarney or any Garda station.
