GERRY McCAUGHEY has been appointed as the new chairman of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority.
Mr McCaughey succeeds Donal O’Connor who stepped down from the position last December following his appointment as the new chairman of Anglo Irish Bank.
Minister for the Environment John Gormley described Mr McCaughey as one of the country’s leading green entrepreneurs.
A native of Co Monaghan, Mr McCaughey was co-founder of Century Homes, the timber-frame housing business. He sold the company to the building-materials company Kingspan in 2005.
Mr McCaughey was a candidate for the Progressive Democrats. He has also been a vocal campaigner for environmentally sustainable construction, campaigning against what he argued was Ireland’s over-reliance on the cement industry.
Yvonne Farrell, co-founder of Grafton Architects, has also been appointed to the executive board, replacing Sheila O’Donnell of O’Donnell and Toumey Architects.
