A former policy adviser with the UK's Department of Trade and Industry has been appointed as the new commissioner of the telecoms watchdog ComReg.
Alex Chisholm, currently a director with e-commerce company SkupeNet Ltd (Ireland), was today appointed to the post by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan for a four year period with effect from October.
Mr Chisholm joins chairman Mike Byrne and commissioner John Doherty at ComReg at a time when the regulator has been given new and enhanced enforcement powers to support competition, a statement from the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources said.
