A new national helpline for troubled teens will be announced today.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Vincent Jackson will launch the the "Teen Line" service in Tallaght today. The 1800-833634 number will go live tomorrow morning.

The helpline is the idea of Dublin mother Maureen Bolger who lost her 16-year-old son Darren to suicide in April 2003.

"It is aimed at any young person feeling lonely, vulnerable, isolated, depressed or even suicidal," Ms Bolger said.
