Disaffected unionists opposed to sharing power in Northern Ireland with Sinn Féin have moved closer to forming a new party.
A number of councillors who quit the Rev Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionists over their devolution pact with republicans were among those who met in Co Tyrone last night.
Independent MEP Jim Allister, who has also severed his ties with the DUP, addressed the gathering at Moygashel Orange Hall.
Although no new opposition party was announced, he that warned unease among grassroots unionists at the DUP-Sinn Féin government was rising.
Mr Allister said: "The task now is to effectively channel and direct this opposition. This is a work in progress."
He walked out of the DUP after a power-sharing Executive was established at Stormont in May.
