A new video has been posted on the internet showing the body of Saddam Hussein on a hospital stretcher with a wound in his neck.
The 27-second clip showed a sheet being removed to reveal Saddam's severely twisted neck and a smear of blood on his left cheek.
It was the third secret film to emerge since he was hanged on December 30th in an execution that inflamed sectarian passions in Iraq.
The grainy video, which appeared to have been taken by a mobile phone, showed a shroud being removed to reveal blood on Saddam's face.
One voice could be heard telling another man to "hurry up", suggesting that he was asking the person doing the filming to finish quickly. One man could also be heard telling another: "You will take care of everything Abu Ali."
Iraq's Shia-led government, which says it is struggling to avert an all-out sectarian civil war, is investigating another illicit film showing Shia officials taunting Saddam on the gallows that has sparked anger among Saddam's fellow minority Sunni Arabs.
A man has been referred to the Iraqi judicial authorities for sectarian abuse shouted at Saddam moments before he was hanged last month, an Iraqi government spokesman said today. Ali al-Dabbagh told a news conference that it was now up to the courts to deal with the man.
The Iraqi government had released an official video showing a dignified Saddam refusing a hood as the noose was placed around his neck.
The release of the new film came as President Bush told US lawmakers he has decided to send about 20,000 more troops to Iraq in a plan to be announced tomorrow.
The White House said Mr Bush, who is reshuffling his commanders and diplomats in Iraq, would address Americans on his new Iraq plan tomorrow night.
