Aer Lingus is to begin a new three times weekly service between Shannon airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
The new service will commence on December 17th.
The introduction of the Paris route brings to eight, the total number of destinations served by Aer Lingus from Shannon airport, with up to 59 flights per week available on services to London Heathrow, Paris, New York and Boston, and Aer Lingus Regional services to Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Manchester.
Shannon airport authority chairman Brian O'Connell said the ability to secure Aer Lingus services on the route so quickly was a major vote of confidence in the airport and in the region.
"Paris Charles de Gaulle offers very significant options for inbound and outbound business and tourism travellers alike and this announcement is a very significant step forward for not just the airport, but for the region as a whole," he said.
Bookings on the new Shannon to Paris route can now be made on aerlingus.com. One-way fares start from €29.99 including taxes and charges for travel from 17th December until 24th March 2011.
