A new centre dedicated to women's health services has opened in Dublin today.
The centre at the private Beacon Hospital in Sandyford will provide services including minimally invasive keyhole surgery for gynaecological procedures.
Beacon Hospital Women's Health Centre will also provide early pregnancy screening and the new HPV vaccine against cervical cancer for younger women.
Consultant gynaecologist Dr Sharon Moss said many women still shy away from dealing with gynaecological health due to common negative emotions associated with such examinations.
She said the centre would focus on easy access, rapid diagnosis and treatment in an office environment whenever possible, making the experience "as stress free as possible".
The centre was opened by Mary O'Rourke, TD.
A public seminar to raise awareness of women's health issues will mark the official opening this evening at 6.30pm.
