Racing: Newbay Prop gave Tony Martin yet another big handicap victory in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown under a fantastic ride from Ross Geraghty.
It was a chance ride for Geraghty, standing in for the injured Robbie Colgan, as the jockey produced his mount to win in the final strides.
The race appeared to have boiled down to a straight fight between the front-running Sound Witness and No Full.
But Newbay Prop (14-1) stayed on stoutly to pip the game Sound Witness and win by a head.
Martin said: "I was afraid the ground would be a little too lively for him and soft ground would suit him better. You can put a line through his last run — I don't know what happened that day.
"He stays forever and was placed over four miles in the Midlands National last spring and would have gone for the four-miler at Cheltenham but was balloted out.
"There are plenty of races for him, the English and Welsh Nationals next year, and these staying chasers have plenty of opportunities."
