Traffic restrictions on the A1 Newry Bypass have been lifted following a security alert earlier today.
A member of the public alerted authorities to a suspicious object left near the Camlough Road shortly before 8am this morning.
When officers responded to the call they were pelted with stones and other missiles by youths.
The A1 was closed from the Carnbane Roundabout to the Forkhill Road Roundabout and the Camlough Road was closed in both directions either side of the flyover.

A PSNI spokesman said the device was declared an elaborate hoax and a “deliberate attempt to disrupt traffic in the area”.
