Newstalk 106 today announced its new schedule and presenter line-up in advance of its nationwide launch on October 2nd.
The station described the development as "historic" and said it would be the "first national talk radio alternative since radio transmissions began in Ireland in 1936."
Some of the changes at the station will include the addition of radio and TV journalist Claire Byrne and Irish Independentbusiness journalist Tom Lyons joining Ger Gilroy on the breakfast show.
Broadcaster and columnist Brenda Power will host a phone-in programme Your Callfrom 11am to 12.30pm each weekday. This will be followed by Lunchtime, which the station says will be a "fast paced news analysis show".
Senator David Norris will become a regular with Sunday with Norris- a series of one-to-one interviews with newsmakers and personalities, "delivered in his own unique colourful style".
Station editor Garrett Harte said: "We are delighted to be bringing this exciting brand of talk radio, combined with our up-to-the-minute news service onto the national stage.
"People from Letterkenny to Limerick, Cavan to Cork and Galway to Gorey will be able to enjoy fun, lively, interactive radio right across the day - whether we are dealing with the latest fashion trend or most pressing political issue."
