Police have come under attack from youths hurling petrol bombs and other missiles during a night of violence in Northern Ireland.
The trouble erupted in Magherafelt, County Tyrone, at around 1am this morning and up to 50 people were involved in confrontation with officers, police said.
A man was arrested for public order offences but there were no injuries reported.
Chief Inspector Paul Douglas appealed for local residents to work with police in stamping out the anti-social behaviour.
"This is a situation that will not be tolerated, as it disrupts the lives of those decent people within the community who do not want to see this kind of needless behaviour and violence.
"This has a huge impact on the quality of life for local residents".
Separate stand-offs developed in the Sperrin and Leckagh areas of the town and police remained in the vicinity until 7am.
