A bomb explosion has killed nine people and wounded 30 at a market in southern Russia.
Itar-Tass news agency quoted prosecutors as saying they had opened a criminal investigation on terrorism charges for the blast in the southern Volga River city of Samara. Initial reports had said oxygen canisters had exploded in the market.
The bomb was attached to a market stall by the side of a rail line and detonated by a fuse, Interfax quoted the police as saying.
The blast will have rattled nerves in Russia, where Chechen rebels have conducted a bombing campaign across the country.
