Campaigners for a No vote on the Lisbon Treaty were this morning accused of either not understanding the treaty, or deliberately misleading people about it.
Former EU Commissioner David Byrne told a meeting of the National Forum on Europe in Dublin that the No campaign was misleading people with claims that had nothing to do with the Lisbon Treaty.
He said the rotation of EU commissioners would not reduce the impact of Ireland in the EU.
Susan George, author and chairwoman of the Transnational Institute, told the meeting that Irish people should carefully consider the military implications of the treaty.

She also claimed that 80 to 90 per cent of Irish legislation would eventually come from Brussels, instead of the Dáil.
