Tallaght Hospital has said there is no evidence to suggest an unauthorised leak of patient information.
The hospital said it had informed the Data Protection Commissioner on Friday of an “unsubstantiated allegation” that information was leaked.
It had sent patients’ personal data to an outside source to be typed and sent back in an encrypted format. However, it stressed the firm involved was bound by a confidentiality agreement.
