The five candidates whose nominations for the presidential election have been accepted are:
Mary Banotti (Fine Gael), a Member of the European Parliament; from Ringsend, Dublin.
Mary McAleese (Fianna Fail, Progressive Democrats), a professor of law at Queen's University Belfast; from Rostrevor, Co Down.
Derek Nally (Independent), a security consultant, honorary president of Victim Support and a former garda; from Bunclody, Co Wexford.
Adi Roche (the Labour Party, Democratic Left and the Green Party), head of the Chernobyl Children's Project; from Cork city.
Dana Rosemary Scallon (Independent), entertainer and broadcaster with Eternal Word Television Network of Alabama; from Derry.
Polling will take place on Thursday, October 30th, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. among an electorate of 2,688,316 registered voters.
