North Korea will halt its nuclear weapons programme if the US stops its belligerent policy towards the country, the North Korean Embassy in Beijing said .
"If the United States gives up its hostile policy against DPRK (North Korea), it will give up its nuclear weapons development programme," the embassy said in a statement, repeating an oft-stated position.
"The U.S. has repeated that the DPRK should give up its nuclear programme first, so there has not been a breakthrough at this round of talks, but North Korea will continue to engage earnestly to resolve the problem."
The statement came after the second day of six-party talks aimed at ending the North Korean nuclear crisis.
