The North appears to be an increasingly popular holiday destination for people across the United Kingdom, according to a study published today.
Data experts from search engine Yell.com analysed holiday-related searches on their site for a year up to this summer to find out which UK towns were most popular with those searching for a holiday.
Belfast is a particular favourite of people in London - ahead of Edinburgh and Brighton - when they search for a getaway destination. Among those in London, Belfast was fifth most popular for a getaway, and for those in Edinburgh it was fourth.
Overall, Northern Ireland ranked 19th in the top 50 UK holiday destinations- ahead of such well known destinations as Devon or Cornwall.
Tourism records are being broken in the North every year with ever increasing numbers from right across the world.
The inclusion of the province in the Lonely Plant Guideand its description of Belfast as a "must-see" destination is thought to have had a lot to deal with its increased popularity - together with an growing list of European air routes set up by the budget airlines.
