Media bias alone did not account for women's "woeful and legendary under-representation" in Northern Ireland's politics, but a "strong correlation" existed between press coverage and election results, a report issued yesterday said.
The report, by the Northern Ireland Women's European Platform (NIWEP) was launched at Stormont. Behind the Lines: A Report on Women and the Press was written after women politicians from seven political parties attracted only one journalist to a 1998 press conference.
