While Brian Kerr's Republic of Ireland remained at 14th when the latest FIFA world rankings were released today, there was more disappointment for Northern Ireland, who now find themselves rated below the likes of Madagascar, Rwanda and Togo.
Northern Ireland suffered a miserable Euro 2004 qualifying campaign, finishing bottom of Group Six and extending their run without a goal to 13 consecutive game. Currently managerless, the North are down two places from the December ranking in 124th.
Scotland and Wales, however, have made progress of sorts. Scotland - beaten by Holland over two legs of their Euro 2004 play-off - move up three places to 51st, while Wales have improved by one spot to joint 65th, little consolation for their failure to reach Portugal.
England remain eighth equal with their Euro 2004 qualifying group rivals Turkey, who were surprisingly beaten in the play-offs by Latvia.
Given the inactivity of most of the national associations at the end of last year, there have been only a total of 52 matches to take into account, and the majority of movement was further down the order.
World champions Brazil continue to hold a healthy advantage over closest rivals France and Spain, who now have lead of nearly 50 points over a pack of chasing teams.
