In 1969 the late John Kelly TD, wrote a novel about bizarre happenings in Irish politics concerning gun-running, and such like. It was never published. The arms crisis broke and as fact turned out to be stronger than fiction, he let it go. Now Senator Morris Manning, currently canvassing, has written a similar political novel. Betrayal centres on a Taoiseach, who has a dark secret which comes back to haunt him. It was scheduled for launch in May, but postponed because of the election. He now plans to publish in November. Will recent factual secrets turn out to be stranger than his fictional secrets?
